Ashley Willis Won Talent Portion of State’s Junior Miss Program and Places in the Top Eight
Ashley Willis is Mobile County's Junior Miss. She placed in the Top Eight in the Alabama Junior Miss Pageant as well as won for the Talen Category.

Mary G. Montgomery student and Mobile County Junior Miss Ashley Willis participated in the state of Alabama’s Junior Miss competition last month in Montgomery, Alabama. Winning the title of Mobile County Junior Miss is an honor and a responsibility. While the whole experience was incredible, Ashley said her favorite part was hanging out with girls from all across the state with whom she had so much in common.
For the state of Alabama competition, she had to perform in talent, fitness, poise, interview and scholastics. Ashley performed well in all parts of the competition but especially in the talent portion. For that part of the program, Ashley took first place. When asked if she could have a “re-do” for any part of the competition, she replied with, “I would not re-do any part because what was meant to happen, happened. I feel like I did my personal best, and that’s all I can do.”
Ashley said the experience as a whole was unforgettable, but the one amazing feeling that had the biggest effect on her was performing on the huge stage. Her parents helped her prepare and fund the trip 100%. She had to make the journey alone. All participants travel to the pageant alone and stay with host families while they are there. She mentioned the other participants were very nice. She said it didn’t even seem like a competition among the girls. It was more like a bonding and learning experience.
Ashley knew the winner of the Alabama pageant from a previous pageant, but she was able to get to know her even better through this experience. In addition to friends, Ashley brought home scholarship money for taking a place in the final top eight in the pageant. She also won the talent portion and an award for self-expression. She said knowing that she had support from family, friends and the community is an amazing feeling. Many from the MGM family traveled to Montgomery to watch the competition and support her from the audience.
