The Man of the Year contest is sponsored by the prom committee and the junior class sponsors Mrs. Dixon-Price and Mrs. Meek.  Junior and Senior MGM guys who meet the requirements may compete for the title of MGM’s Man of the Year.  Students who wish to participate must carry a 2.5 grade point average, have no serious discipline referrals, and have paid their junior dues. 

For the contest this year, some things are being changed.  In the previous years, all the guys have had girls as escorts who also had to be juniors and seniors.  This year, the guys will not have escorts on their arms, and the contestants will have to perform skits.  This year’s contest will be similar to the Miss Viking Pageant.  Guys in all grades may participate, and they will be judged on personality and poise.  The theme for the contest is “I Need a Hero.”  Each young man will present himself in formal wear and his choice of a hero costume. 

MGM’s reigning Man of the Year is Mr. Terrell Patrick.  He will be at the contest to crown his successor.  Terrell hopes that the new winner will be as honored and deserving of the title as he was.
