Students, Be Advised!

In the past, once second semester began in January, students started fresh on accumulating tardies.  This was before tardy retract and when tardies were only recored per teacher.  Now, because of the new tardy retract policy, tardies are kept in a central location and log.  When MGM students returned from Christmas break for the second semester, their tardy accumulations kept adding up.  Students did not start the semester again with zero tardy violations.  Tardies now carry over from all classes all day all year.  If a student is tardy to each class during the day, the student can accumulate more tardies than is allowed in one single day and end up moving to the second stage of tardy punishment.

Absences do begin fresh for the new school semester.  Because of being in all new classes, student absences are counted per class.  Students should be aware of tardies and early dismissals which require a student to miss and entire block.  While the student may not be absent the entire day, the student is still absent from an entire class. This, therefore, counts as an absence for that class.  Only four parent notes are allowed per class (for whole semester classes) before the absences are automatically changed to unexcused.
